Hello. My name is Jerry Unger. I grew up in the Midwest. I was raised with the work ethic and common sense, typical of all of us who grew up in Middle America.

I write from the point of view of the working man and my personnel experiences. I try to paint a picture that many can relate to. One of my goals in songwriting is to create a mood or feeling that the listener can call their own. A piece of sound that brings up memories and feelings.

Songwriting.

I have been writing original material since the late 70s. Originally I wrote some songs in collaboration with various band members, including my older brother Big Daddy (Bill). In the early 2000s I wrote a number of songs that were recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis Tennessee. MY primary writing partner at that time was Nora Wolff. Kind of like Delaney and Bonnie or Johnny and June without the drugs, and fights. Most recently I recorded an album at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. My writing partner for portions of that album was Dave Hare. A great drummer and compatriot. He started with me as a fill in for one show and stayed for 8 years. I am in the process now of working on my next album with help from Dave and some other musicians.

I have copyrights and publishing rights for over 100 songs to date. I have been fortunate to have had various song placements in the United States and abroad. These placements have been on network television or cable series.

Placements include:

“Right Through My Hands”, co written with Nora Wolff. This song was featured on the Netflix Series “Kingdom”. It was also placed on the ABC series “Lethal Weapon”. More recently two of the songs I wrote for the Hurricane Express album, “Early Warning”, were placed on two different cable stations. The song, “When You See Me”, was featured on season 3 of the Netflix Series, “Stranger Things”. A second song from that album, “Rock and Roll Man”, was placed on the Apple TV series, “Physical”.

In addition to these US placements, many of the other songs are in rotation on a number of radio and television shows in the International market.

I have found that you don’t really make any serious money from these placements. Often times just enough for a tank of gas. But as a songwriter, it is nice to know people are listening to what you have to say. ".

Muscle Shoals Sessions - Jerry Unger with The FOG

This album was inspired by a brief visit my wife Donna, and I made to Muscle Shoals Alabama specifically to tour Fame and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios. the Stones recorded the song “Wild Horses” at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in 1969. This was one of our favorites and a friend of ours, Jac Caplin, played as we walked down the aisle at our wedding. During our studio tour , I learned that the studio still conducted limited recording sessions. Needless to say, this was meant to be.
